Practice Deepening Group (Morning)

In Dharma Friends Practice Deepening Groups, we work with core practices taught in the early discourses of the Buddha. Some of these core practices include:

  • Mindfulness of breath meditation

  • Developing ethical trainings

  • Meditations for cultivating good will and compassion

  • Daily life mindfulness

  • Contemplations for deepening understanding of the causes of suffering, and of how to find freedom from suffering

Participants are asked to prioritize being present for every session of the group, unless there are significant unavoidable conflicts such as illness or out-of-town travel.

In Practice Deepening Groups, we generally begin each session with a period of guided meditation practice. Participants are given readings and activities to work with at home. Everyone is expected to commit to an average of at least 30 minutes each day for practicing meditation and other group-related activities.

Currently, two Practice Deepening Groups meet through Dharma Friends Community:

  • Sunday Morning Practice Deepening - Meets weekly from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m.

  • Sunday Evening Practice Deepening - Meets weekly from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m.

The two current Practice Deepening Groups open to new members from time to time throughout the year. New Practice Deepening Groups will be offered as the need arises.
